Gunderson's Cannery Cafe

Gunderson's Cannery Cafe is located at the foot of Sixth Street overlooking the Columbia River. Dine while watching ships and wildlife pass by. The Cafe is housed in a century old cannery and is owned by a fourth generation Astorian. Come in for a bowl of chowder and fresh baked bread, or dine on seasonal seafood - prepared fresh, not fat fried. We serve a variety of soups, salads and sandwiches. Try our terrific Halibut Burger, Crab and Shrimp Cakes, legendary Lime Prawns, a great Caesar Salad and pizzas made on our own foccacia crust. We also have many vegetarian options. Top your meal off with desserts made from scratch by our pastry chef. The Cafe has a full-service bar featuring Northwest wines and beers. Winter hours are Tuesday thru Saturday 11 a.m. - 8 p.m., Sunday 9 a.m. - 6 p.m. (we reserve the right to close a little early if the weather is bad). Summer hours start in June and are Monday thru Sunday 11 a.m. - 8:30 p.m., and we'll open at 9 a.m. on Sunday for breakfast. VISA/MC, Diner's Club, Discover, personal checks and cash accepted. Rosemary Baking Company

Rosemary Baking Company began producing and distributing breads and pastries in the lower Columbia area in 1993. Owner Lorna Anderson's innovative recipes and techniques soon won a local following and received notice from Sunset magazine. The oven-roasted, bones-in turkey breast sandwich established Rosemary's reputation as a premier sandwich shop. The recent addition of the chicken salad sandwich (a delightful blend of chicken breast, roasted almonds and tarragon) continues this reputation. Local vegetarians love the garden sandwich and know that one of the hearty, homemade soups made each day will be vegetarian. In addition to the regular menu, a sandwich and bread of the week is featured (roast beef or pepper parmesan bread; bacon, lettuce and tomato on olive and roasted garlic). All food is available for take-out. Limited seating is available. Hours are 10 a.m. - 2 p.m., Monday through Friday. Lunch is served 11 a.m. -2 p.m. Personal checks gladly accepted. Sorry, no plastic.
